R. Barst
HASKELL R. BARST (1907-1990), the founding partner of Barst
& Mukamal LLP, was one of the first attorneys in the United
States to practice immigration law exclusively. He was a pioneer
in the field at a time when U.S. immigration laws were primarily
exclusionary in nature and placed severe restrictions on individuals
from particular regions or of certain origins. Mr. Barst was
also a pioneer in garnering recognition for immigration law
as a distinct and respected specialization within the field
of law.
